Our First Week of School

You must all be thinking that I am one smart baby to already be going to school! Technically, this past week was mommy's first week of school but I got to go to all of the classes with her. She mentioned something to me about getting her Master of Education degree in elementary education. If I get daddy's genes, mommy is going to have to be a master of education in order to keep up with me! We went to three classes. My favorite one is going to be the class she is taking on children's literature. The teacher read us two picture books. I really liked them. Mommy is going to have to read a lot of children's books this spring and hopefully she will read them out loud to me. I promise to be a good listener.

We also went to the doctor this week for a routine checkup. Mommy was not so happy after she got on the scale and discovered that she gained nine pounds from her last visit five weeks ago. I was proud of her though! That means she is feeding me well. Mommy heard my heartbeat and she and the doctor heard another sound. Mommy asked the doctor what it was and she told mommy that I was kicking. The doctor said I am a very active baby. I could have told you that myself! At mommy's next doctor's appointment on February 6th, she will finally be able to find out if I am a boy or girl. I hear mommy talking with daddy on the phone about it. Daddy is convinced I am a boy and mommy can't quite make up her mind. I guess everyone will find out in about 10 days or so!

A Little Bit of This and That

Mom and I have been doing great the past few weeks. She has officially finished her first trimester which means she has a lot more energy. I weigh around 2 3/4 ounces and I am about four inches long. My taste buds have been forming which means I can taste the foods that mommy is eating. She already knows which foods are my favorite. I love it when she eats bagels with cream cheese, pizza, pineapple and grapes. My newest favorite is an egg and cheese sandwich on an english muffin. She does a really good job of listening to what I want!

Our lives seem to focus around food, which is a good thing because I'm a growing baby! The past few weeks mommy has gone out to lunch and dinner with some of her friends. She met up with Aunt Carolyn one day, Aunt Sandra another day and daddy's cousin Auntie Erin. I can't wait to meet all of them. We also went over to mommy's cousin Shayna's house. She has a baby named Preston. He seems like he is going to be a lot of fun to play with. Although, I will have some catching up to do. He's about 14 months old. He's already walking and talking. I was trying so hard to communicate with him, but he just wasn't listening!

Mommy told me I am going to have another cousin. My Uncle Matt and Aunt Shannon are going to have a baby! Baby Krisko is supposed to arrive about a week behind me. Mommy saw a picture of the baby last week. We are going to have so much fun playing together. I wonder if Baby Krisko is a boy or a girl? We will all find out soon.

I also found out that Mommy, Daddy and I are going to be living across the hall from Uncle Mike and Aunt Carolyn. They are buying a townhouse at Edwards Harborview as well. I hope they start practicing their diaper changing skills now. I also need to start thinking of creative ways to compete with our dog Charley (see picture) for Uncle Mike's attention. From what mommy has told me, Uncle Mike refers to himself as "The Dog Father" and as of right now Charley is clearly the favorite! I'm not worried, I will win Uncle Mike over.

In other exciting news, Uncle Dan and Aunt Erin (I am going to have three Erin's in my life...I'm going to start thinking of good nicknames) set a wedding date of January 19, 2008 in Manhattan. I am glad Uncle Dan is marrying Aunt Erin. She seems like she is going to be a really fun auntie. Mommy told me that she and Aunt Erin bonded over a trip last year to Virginia when they went to Uncle Charles and Aunt Andrea's wedding. They went as each others dates because Daddy and Uncle Dan were away. I can't wait until she is officially my aunt.

I also want to say hello to my daddy. I miss you! Until next time...

Pregnancy Survival Kit

Mommy got a package in the mail yesterday from Auntie Margaret. The package was called a pregnancy survival kit. It's a good thing someone in the Sweatman family knows about all of this pregnancy stuff because mommy sure doesn't. She has a lot to learn in the next few months! Auntie Margaret sent lots of books, including The Pregnancy Bible, Nursing Your Baby, Hot Mama and Baby Bargains. These were books she found very useful when she was pregnant with cousin Grace. Thank you Auntie Margaret!

Mommy also finally gave up on wearing her regular jeans a few days ago and I must say I'm very happy. It's been a little tight in here the past week or so because of those jeans and every morning I would hear mommy struggling to put them on. The jeans she got as a gift from Grammi are much more comfortable and I can stretch out and move around as much as I want. Thank goodness for pregnancy jeans. I'm free to grow!

Last week, mommy got together with her college friends Meg, Elizabeth, Sandra, Tara and Erin and she told them all about me. They were excited and Erin even promised to be a good aunt. From what mommy told me after we left, Erin's known to be a little mischievous. Little does mommy know, I already have a mischievous side myself! Aunt Erin and I are going to get along great.

I spent the past few days up in Maine with Grammi and Grampy. Grampy's really good at refinishing furniture and building things. I think his next project should be to build me a crib:)

From my first photograph, everyone thinks I look like them! Daddy's Uncle Tony told Nonna that I already look like daddy. And mommy's Mimi and Papa think that I look just like a Sawyer. Either way, they are all a good looking bunch so I can't complain. You'll just have to wait and see who I look like.

Mommy told me that the Giants made the playoffs so I want to wish Papa good luck this weekend. Mommy and I are going to be watching lots of football on Saturday and Sunday.
