Erin is Officially My Aunt!

Here is a picture from a few months ago when I went to Erin's bridal shower. She gave me a book called "King Bidgood's in the Bathtub" and it has since become one of my favorites! On January 19, 2008 Erin officially became my aunt. She and Uncle Dan tied the knot in the Big Apple. As daddy said in his best man speech, the Sweatman family is now complete. I had such a great time partying the weekend away on my first trip to New York City. On Friday night we went to a rehearsal dinner at the Harvard Club (not only is Aunt Erin pretty, but she's got brains too). I got to have some asparagus. I met so many people, including my second cousin Joey who is just a few weeks older than me. He was already crawling around and feeding himself food. I was very impressed. I also met my cousin Ryan for the first time. She is about 4 months younger than me. The wedding on Saturday was amazing and the reception was really exciting for me...I stayed up for most of it. I finally crashed on the bus ride back to the hotel.

On Sunday, we drove back to Beverly just in time for some more people to arrive. Mommy and daddy's friends from college, Lauren and Noel, were visiting from Oregon. I had so much fun with them. I enjoyed having them hold me and play with me. I hope we get to see them again soon.

I am trying really hard to crawl. I get on my stomach and raise my arms and legs in the air (mommy says it looks like I am flying) but that is about as far as I get. I also officially said "mama" this week. Mommy was really excited when she heard me say it. Daddy also heard me so there are two witnesses! Charley the dog is still my best friend. He is the only member of the family who will get an unsolicited smile or laugh from me. He just cracks me up!

Until next time,

Little O

6 Months Old

I was officially six months old on January 9th and this week I had my six month checkup. The Doc says I am doing well. I weigh 19lbs 6 ounces and I am 28 1/2 inches long. My head is getting bigger and growing the way it should. I can now eat all sorts of food. So far, I have tried bananas, pears, avocado, peas, squash and sweet potatoes. I like to drink water from a cup. I can roll on both sides and sit alone. I feel like I am getting more and more independent each day.

The Holiday Season

This holiday season was my best one yet! We spent Thanksgiving at Nonna and Papa's house on the Cape and Grammi, Dziadzia, Uncle Mike and Carolyn came too. The best part of Thanksgiving was that I got another cousin. My cousin, Ryan Catherine, was born on Thanksgiving! I can't wait to meet her soon.

After Thanksgiving, the festivities continued for a few more weeks. Mommy's friend Erin and her husband Matt came from California to meet me (at least I like to think that was their only reason for coming out east...it's all about me:) and I was so excited when they got here. They were so much fun and they really gave my ego a big boost. Everything I did got a very enthusiastic response from them...whether it was drinking from a cup of water, opening a present or jumping in my jumperoo...they were a very captive audience. They can visit again anytime!

Daddy got us our FIRST Christmas tree! Mommy and daddy had been moving around so much over that past few years that they had never got one before. They were waiting to share that experience with me. Daddy did a great job picking out the tree.

Christmas Eve we spent with Nonna, Papa, Uncle Dan, Aunt Erin, GG, Linda and Tony. We had the Feast of Seven Fishes and I was able to stay up for most of the night. Christmas Day we drove back to Beverly and went to Grammi and Dziadzia's. That afternoon we went to my Great Aunt Barbara and Great Uncle Shawn's house where I got to see all my aunts, uncles and cousins. That was a great time. And, Santa came! Mommy had to help me open my presents but next year I should be able to do it on my own.

The weekend before New Years we spent in Maine. Daddy went skiing with Dziadzia while mommy stayed behind to take care of me. I am saying this because mommy is a terrible skier and I think she used my presence as an excuse. The festivities continued for a few more days. On New Years Eve we had our neighbors Chris and Michelle and Uncle Mike and Aunt Carolyn over. The next day, mommy and daddy hosted a New Years Day spaghetti dinner for thirteen people.

I am so blessed to have so many great people in my life. I hope mommy and daddy know how lucky they are. I have such great grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and mommy and daddy's friends are the best. On behalf of mommy and daddy, thank you for being a part of our lives and bringing us so much happiness.

Love, Oliver
