Summer Adventures- My First Birthday continued

I had all sorts of guests at my birthday party...nonna and papa, grammi and dziadzia, mimi and papa, uncle mike and aunt carolyn, erin, my great aunts marian and barbara and my great uncle shawn, some of mommy's cousins, sandra, and chris and michelle.

after playing with everyone and eating lots of food, everyone sang happy birthday to me and then we ate birthday cake.  even though it was already past my bedtime, i got to stay up and eat cake.

at first, i thought the entire cake was for me and i was ready to dig in but then daddy explained to me that i needed to share the cake with all of our guests.

i used my squinty eyed smile to let everyone know just how happy i was to be eating and playing with birthday cake.

Overall, it was a great first birthday.  The most important part was that my family was there to share it with me.  It's hard to believe it's already been a full year.  I am excited for what the next year is going to bring.  Mommy and daddy finally told me that I am going to be a big brother!  I think they were waiting until I turned one to share the news with me.  I was wondering why mommy's belly was getting bigger and bigger.  I swear, sometimes they treat me like such a baby!!!  I can't wait until November when the new baby arrives.  I wonder if it will be a boy or a girl?

Until next time, Oliver the one year old

Summer Adventures- My First Birthday!

On July 9th I turned one!  Now I know why mommy and daddy were teaching me to say happy birthday...to them it sounds more like "hap baba" but they know what I am trying to say.  What a great year it has been.  I'm walking, talking, eating all sorts of foods and I love to dance.  I've had so many adventures.  I'd like to say so many memories, but apparently I won't remember any of this which is why we decided to keep the baby blog- so I could pretend I remember them!

When I woke up I knew it was a special day.  My highchair was decorated and there was a present waiting for me.  Mommy had to help me open my surprise, but I still had fun playing with the wrapping paper.

I got a onesie that said "1st Birthday" on it.  Mommy and daddy told me it was a special day to celebrate me.  They told me they are so thankful that I have come into their lives and they love me very much.  I think the jury is still out on how Charley feels about me, but I love him!

Mommy and daddy decorated the house for my party that night.  They told me that our family would be coming over to party with me.

My first guests were Nonna and Papa who came from the Cape.  Nonna and Papa took care of me while mommy ran errands and got ready for the other guests to arrive.

Summer Adventures- Fourth of July Weekend

Fourth of July weekend we spent up in Maine at Grammi and Dziadzia's house.  We had a lot of fun.  Daddy had to work on Thursday so mommy and I drove up with Grammi and Dziadzia and daddy drove up after work.  On Thursday, while daddy was stuck inside at work, mommy and I spent the day on the boat.  As you can probably tell from my expression, I can't wait to learn to swim so I don't have to wear a life jacket anymore!  But, I know that in order to be a part of the action I have to do what mommy and daddy ask of me.

The next day was the Fourth of July.  This was officially my first Fourth of July celebration.  There was a parade on Grammi and Dziadzia's street that I got to watch.  I loved watching all the people and decorations go by.

Here is a picture of Grammi watching the parade with me.

One of the neighbors on the street has a party after the parade is over.  They serve slush for the kids and mudslides for the adults.  Mimi and Papa even had a mudslide!  As you can tell from my expression in the picture, I really wanted a sip.  It looked so good.  Maybe in 20 years or so!

The rest of the weekend was spent playing in the water, eating lots of good food and spending time with all sorts of people.  Uncle Mike and Aunt Carolyn were also up in Maine.  Carolyn's parents made the trip from Oklahoma to visit all of us in Maine.  What a fun weekend!

Summer Adventures- Part 1

Mommy and daddy FINALLY got their computer back after a long absence.  I have had a great summer.  In June, mommy and daddy hosted a Father's Day Brunch to celebrate all the important men in our lives.  Uncle Matt, Aunt Shannon, Lorelai, Shannon's dad Don, Papa, Dziadzia, Nonna, Grammi, Uncle Mike and Aunt Carolyn all came over for breakfast.

The following weekend mommy and I went to Maine while daddy was working at a Harpoon Festival.  It was finally warm enough for me to go in the water.  I discovered that I love being in the water as long as someone is holding me.  I had fun playing in the sand, swimming and hanging out in my kiddy pool.

I love playing in the water with Dziadzia.

Auntie Margaret, Grace and Ryan all came up to Cape Cod for a visit so mommy, daddy and I headed down to Nonna and Papa's to visit with them for a few days.  We had such a good time.  We went to the beach, went out for lobsters, went to the children's museum and spent lots of time playing together.  Here is a picture of me with my cousin Ryan who is always smiling.  Whenever I see her, she makes me smile!

At the end of our visit, we all got our picture taken with Nonna!
