Mommy did say she was so happy with their observations of me because some of the areas that I am still developing are things she noticed as well, and some of the areas that I have mastered are ones that mommy already knew about which means the teachers really are aware of each child in that classroom. She was surprised at how well they seem to know me based upon only going there twice a week.
Here it is:

Comments: Oliver likes to work in small groups with a teacher nearby. He is starting to work with other children on various activities. It would be great to set up some play dates with school friends. He often will choose an activity independently and spend good quality time on it. He is feeling more comfortable asking for help from teachers. We will continue to encourage him to use words to have his needs met and express his ideas.

Uses complete sentences: Mastered
Uses language to communicate: Mastered
Age appropriate vocabulary: Mastered
Age appropriate attention span: Mastered

Comments: We have worked a lot with Oliver to have him use a louder voice when speaking. He has so many great ideas that we all really want to be able to hear him. He is very good at following directions. When asked to sort big and little bears into big and little chairs he did this with ease. He even pointed out that one was medium size so we added a medium chair. Oliver is learning to turn take at circle time both speaking and listening to others ideas.

Comments: Oliver is very bright. He has a good grasp of all preschool concepts listed above. He did a super job counting teddy bears onto strawberries. He could name numbers 1-10 when asked. He often will choose to do counting and sorting activities when they are on the table. He spent time using the hanging balance scale too. We will offer Oliver some more challenging math activities throughout the year. We have recently been learning about patterns and using unifex cubes to try to make our own patterns.

Can manipulate scissors: Developing
Can manipulate puzzle pieces: Mastered
Self-help skills for bathroom: Mastered

Comments: Oliver could write most of his name before we introduced name cards. He holds his pencil with a high fist grip and often switches from right to left hand. He wrote all the letters of his name and told me "I can't make R." When he looked at R on the name card he stated, "Mommy taught me!" and was proud to write all the letters in his name. We talked about pushing forward through the paper when we practiced cutting with scissors. He will often join in to help work on giant floor puzzles. He is learning to get himself dressed to go out in the snow.
Additional comments: Oliver is a very smart child. When we work with him it is evident that you do a lot of great things with him at home. He came to the magnet wall and spelled his name with magnets then asked how to spell his sister's name. I can't wait to start journaling with him. He shows interest in the letter word connection. Children who have this interest often get a kick out of us reading their own dictated stories back to them. We have enjoyed getting to know Oliver. He has shown growth in all areas of development. We especially like to see him growing in self-confidence and independence. We will continue to challenge Oliver in all developmental areas. He is a curious and persistent learner.

Michael and I both laughed out loud at the story of the bears and chairs!
That's our Oliver. He told me last week "I'm his". So cute!
