Adios, Hydrocele!

Monday was our day to have surgery so Sunday night we celebrated by saying good bye to Adelaide's big belly button. She was born with an umbilical hernia and I found out this summer that I had something like a hernia that needed to be fixed so it made sense to have the surgeries done on the same day.

I was a little more nervous than Adelaide. When we got to Children's Hospital they immediately made us feel comfortable. After getting us settled, we were given some stickers and bubbles to play with.

When Adelaide went in for her surgery, I started to get very nervous. I found out that mommy could come in with me but I still got a little upset. It is a scary thing for a four year old to go through, you know?

I was very afraid when we went into the operating room but after they started giving me the medicine, I felt very tired and went to sleep within seconds.

When I was in the recovery room, right before I woke up, daddy did take a picture but mommy felt like it was a bit much to put here. I still had my breathing mask on.

Once I woke up though, I was UP! True to my personality, the second the breathing mask came off, I sat right up and asked for my popsicle. I also asked the nurse a million questions about my bandaids and IV. She did a good job answering them for me.

Mommy and daddy had given us some cozy pajamas the day before so we put them on once our surgery was over!

After about an hour or so in recovery, it was finally time to head home. We got a ride in the wheelchair to a special exit and headed out the door!
Mommy and daddy kept on telling me how proud they were of us and how brave we were throughout the whole morning.
