More Pictures from the Past Few Weeks

Here are a few more pictures from the past few weeks.  Uncle Tom and Auntie Margaret were in Boston over Labor Day weekend for Auntie's Gaelic football championships.  They won!  While Auntie Margaret was busy practicing, Uncle Tom met up with mommy, daddy and me at Harpoon.

Here are a few random pictures of me taken one Saturday while we were all watching football.

Do I look more like daddy....

.....or Mommy????

Here is our dog Charley.  The reason why I included this picture is because he went crazy for Nonna's meatballs too!  He sat by his dish and waited and waited for more meatballs.  Of course mommy couldn't resist giving him a few more bites.  What a spoiled dog!

I'm a Dare Devil Who Loves Meatballs!

Mommy has to keep me out of the house in order to keep me out of trouble.  The past few weeks we have gone to the zoo, four different parks, the children's museum and to an orchard to pick blackberries.  While that was fun I guess, the real highlight of my day is when I am at home trying to figure out ways to drive mommy and daddy crazy!  They never knew a 14 month old could be so creative.  This past month alone, I have figured out how to open the drawer below the oven and crawl into it, as you can tell from the picture.  I have also figured out how to open the oven door and try to crawl in the oven.  I also figured out if I stretch my arm really far I can reach the knobs on the stove.  Mommy never knew I was so mischievous.

I like to crawl into cardboard boxes and rock back and forth trying to tip them over.

The discovery I made the other day is that I can open the drawers to mommy and daddy's coffee table and crawl into the drawer.  I actually got stuck and couldn't get out so I needed mommy's help.  I just learned that once I am in the drawer I can now stand on the table.  I can't wait to teach my younger brother or sister all these things!

It might look like I am just sitting in my old car seat but what I am actually doing is getting down off of the carseat which I use to stand on and lean up against the couch to reach everything and anything that is on the window.  Pretty soon I'll be able to use it to actually climb up on the couch.

After all my hard work, at the end of the day all I want is some of Nonna's meatballs.  She sent some home with mommy and daddy after their last visit and you can tell how much I enjoyed them based upon the look on my face.  I ate a whole bowl of pasta and meatballs.

The Rest of My Summer Adventures

At the end of July, mommy, daddy and I headed down to Long Island for Lorelai's baptism.  We just went for the day but I had a lot of fun!  Mommy is Lorelai's Godmother.  She told me she is very honored to have that distinction.  I got to spend time with my cousin and the rest of our family.  The Coast Guard chaplain performed the service and I tried to be on my best behavior.

In August, we went to Nonna and Papa's house for the weekend and one of the adventures they had in store from me was my first bike ride.  I was a little bit nervous at first riding on the back of the bicycle but daddy made me feel comfortable.  The helmet was the best part.  With all the running around I do now, mommy and daddy are thinking a helmet might not be a bad idea for me to wear in the house.  I think I'll save it for special occasions, like riding a bike.

One other major discovery this month is how much I LOVE taking baths.  I stand by the sink and point up at it all day long and say "bah" for bath and once I am in the bath I am the happiest guy in the world.  I make bathtime even more exciting by playing with the faucet...something mommy and daddy weren't super happy that I discovered.  But, don't they realize I'm just a curious little guy?  I need to explore!

I also discovered this month how much fun it is to hold fruit in my hands and eat it.  I might only have 6 teeth still, but they sure are strong.  I am loving eating all sorts of food.

At the end of the month, mommy and daddy took me to one of my favorite places- Bradley Palmer State Park.  We take Charley there for walks.  Imagine my surprise when they took me to a wading pool at the state park.  I had SO much fun walking around in the water with daddy and playing with other kids.  There was even a turtle (you can see it in the background) that was bigger than me.

Overall, it was a really great summer.  I got to see lots of my family, make some new friends and spend lots of time exploring.  Next summer I'll get to show my little brother or sister the ropes.  Only 9 more weeks until the baby arrives.  I can't wait!  The other major development that happened at the end of the month is that I decided it was finally time to sleep through the night on my own in my crib.  I now go to bed at 7 or 7:30 and get up around 5:30 or 6.  Mommy and daddy seem really happy.  I figured mommy needed the extra rest with the new baby arriving.

Summer Adventures- My First Hair Cut

At the end of July I got my first haircut.  Mommy was very hesitant to cut off the curls but she was getting tired of me being mistaken for a girl.  Also, other people hinted to her that it might be time for me to get my haircut.

So, one Friday morning mommy took me over to Sportsmens Barbershop.  I was not quite sure what was happening at first.  In fact, I was kind of excited to sit in the big chair and look at myself in the mirror while mommy took pictures of me.

And then I realized this whole adventure was probably not going to be as much fun as I thought so I decided to get in the zone and think about fun things I like to do such as go to the park and take Charley for walks.  As you can tell, I didn't cry once but I did get a glazed look in my eyes for the entire duration of the haircut.  I wouldn't give mommy a smile because I wasn't quite sure what was happening.

Are we done yet?  Not only did I have to get my haircut but they had to spray my hair with a water bottle and make me sit still for what seemed like an eternity.  In actuality, it was probably only 5-10 minutes.

Here is the end result.  The thing that makes mommy and me happiest is that I have not been mistaken for a girl since I got my haircut.  I wonder if I'll be so patient the next time I go.  I was hoping to have my first lollipop after I was done but mommy told me I was too young.  This seems so unfair...I'm old enough to get my haircut but too young to have a lollipop?  What is wrong with this picture!

Until next time, the little big guy
