The Rest of My Summer Adventures

At the end of July, mommy, daddy and I headed down to Long Island for Lorelai's baptism.  We just went for the day but I had a lot of fun!  Mommy is Lorelai's Godmother.  She told me she is very honored to have that distinction.  I got to spend time with my cousin and the rest of our family.  The Coast Guard chaplain performed the service and I tried to be on my best behavior.

In August, we went to Nonna and Papa's house for the weekend and one of the adventures they had in store from me was my first bike ride.  I was a little bit nervous at first riding on the back of the bicycle but daddy made me feel comfortable.  The helmet was the best part.  With all the running around I do now, mommy and daddy are thinking a helmet might not be a bad idea for me to wear in the house.  I think I'll save it for special occasions, like riding a bike.

One other major discovery this month is how much I LOVE taking baths.  I stand by the sink and point up at it all day long and say "bah" for bath and once I am in the bath I am the happiest guy in the world.  I make bathtime even more exciting by playing with the faucet...something mommy and daddy weren't super happy that I discovered.  But, don't they realize I'm just a curious little guy?  I need to explore!

I also discovered this month how much fun it is to hold fruit in my hands and eat it.  I might only have 6 teeth still, but they sure are strong.  I am loving eating all sorts of food.

At the end of the month, mommy and daddy took me to one of my favorite places- Bradley Palmer State Park.  We take Charley there for walks.  Imagine my surprise when they took me to a wading pool at the state park.  I had SO much fun walking around in the water with daddy and playing with other kids.  There was even a turtle (you can see it in the background) that was bigger than me.

Overall, it was a really great summer.  I got to see lots of my family, make some new friends and spend lots of time exploring.  Next summer I'll get to show my little brother or sister the ropes.  Only 9 more weeks until the baby arrives.  I can't wait!  The other major development that happened at the end of the month is that I decided it was finally time to sleep through the night on my own in my crib.  I now go to bed at 7 or 7:30 and get up around 5:30 or 6.  Mommy and daddy seem really happy.  I figured mommy needed the extra rest with the new baby arriving.

Love, Oliver

You're such a special little boy -- and soooo smart -- I can't believe all the words you are saying. We love you very much.
