Fourth of July Weekend- Part 1

Before we headed to Maine for the fourth of July weekend, we got a very special treat! Mommy told us that Gabriella was coming over for a few hours because Uncle Mike had to go to work and Auntie Carolyn had school. So, Adelaide and I decided that we would put on a show for Gabriella and keep her entertained. Here I am trying to play peek-a-boo but the girls are much more interested in something else. Not sure what it was but I tried!

After Gabriella woke up from her nap, I made sure that she was happy. I also realized while I was laying there that I really liked her headband. So I told her. Why not pay my cousin a compliment, right? I told her I liked her headband and it made her look pretty. After spending a few hours with Gabriella, Dzia Dzia arrived and as a special surprise that he and mommy had arranged, I got to go up to Maine with him in his truck. On the way there we stopped at Old McDonalds and I got some chicken nuggets. Unfortunately we caught the bridge in the Locks and had to wait for all the boats to cross but otherwise we had a really fun car ride together.

Once we got to Maine, we waited for mommy, daddy and Adelaide to arrive. When daddy got there he asked me if I wanted to go fishing. Of course I did!!! How could I say no. I was determined to catch a mudfish. I am the only person who really knows what a mudfish is but when I catch it everyone will really be excited.

After I fished with daddy, Dzia Dzia asked me if I wanted some fish for my bucket. There was a school of minnows near the beach so Dzia Dzia caught some for me.

He put them in my bucket for me and as you can tell it totally made my day. I was so so so happy. I loved looking at the little fish. Dzia Dzia told me we had to put them back in the lake after we were done looking at them so they could go back to their mommy.

We were heading back up to Grammi and Dzia Dzia's house when all of the sudden we heard the music and realized the ice cream truck was coming. We quickly went with mommy to wait on our side of the street. Adelaide was SO excited. I mean, I was excited and all, but Adelaide really won the prize for who was the most excited.

We decided to start chasing the ice cream truck and finally the ice cream truck arrived and Adelaide picked out a Dora popsicle and I picked out Sponge Bob. Even though it was almost time for dinner, mommy and daddy said it was okay because it was a very special treat for us!

I woke up on Saturday SO excited to go for a boat ride but Dzia Dzia said that first we needed to clean it. As you can tell, I was a really big helper! I basically handed him the brush whenever he needed it.

Finally, it was time to go out on the boat but we had to put our life jackets on before heading out.

After watching mommy and daddy go swimming down by the island, I thought that I was ready to take the plunge. I watched daddy jump off the dock and decided it was time! Here I am making my way to the edge. My life jacket has to always be on before going on the dock.

I'm starting slowly by dunking my feet. Daddy patiently waited for me until I was ready and then I "jumped" in!

After I jumped in daddy showed me how to swim.

When I got closer to the shore I told daddy that I could take it from there so I "swam" the rest of the way to the shore.

Mommy really wanted me to jump off and swim back with her but I wouldn't go. I just felt really comfortable with daddy.

After our day at the beach we decorated our car for the parade the next day with our Fourth of July streamers, banners we made, stickers and flags. Mommy, daddy, Adelaide and I all worked together to decorate the car. It was really fun. Adelaide went just a little bit sticker crazy but, hey, she's only 19 months old, right!

Saturday night was the 3rd Annual Lobster Dinner with mommy, daddy, Grammi Dzia Dzia, Mimi and Papa. We had steamers as an appetizer. I went with daddy to pick up the steamers and I was a little bit tired on the way home so daddy kept me awake by feeding me steamers! They were so good! Adelaide and I shared a lobster. She LOVED it. I thought it was okay but she REALLY loved it. She ate her half and part of mine as well.
