Fourth of July Weekend- Part 2

July 4th started off with a delicious breakfast at Mimi and Papa's house! Papa makes the best breakfast! I had scrambled eggs, sausage and toast. Adelaide and I devoured everything and even asked for more. We needed our strength for the parade.

After breakfast, I went up to Papa to ask him for a gumdrop. Here I am on his lap trying to negotiate my way to another gumdrop. He came through for me. I also told him I loved him!

The parade started down near the entrance to the road. We had no idea how long the walk would be! I started off very enthusiastically, but then mommy and daddy told me that the parade hadn't started yet. We were just WALKING to the parade. Then I realized what a long walk we were in for!

By the time the parade started I was tired of walking so mommy pushed me in the car that we had decorated. It was way better to get a ride!

In exchange for giving up use of the car, Adelaide was promised a ride with the best view. Daddy put her on his shoulders for the remainder of the walk.

When we got to Grammi and Dzia Dzia's house they were clapping and cheering for us along with Mimi and Papa! They also took our picture. It was already SO hot by this point in the day. But, special drinks awaited us a few houses down...

Yes, they had slushees!!! They were delicious. In fact, I went back three times to get some more. Finally, mommy told me that I had enough sugar to last me the rest of the day. Boy, were they good. I am more than willing to walk in any parade that has slushees waiting at the end. They also had something called mudslides. Mommy and daddy each indulged in one!

After parade, family photo!

We all decided to walk down to Julia's house and on the way we saw Uncle Sam sitting in front of Janet's house. How cool is that? I got my picture taken with Uncle Sam!

Apparently I wasn't the only one excited! Dzia Dzia really liked sitting with Uncle Sam, so much so that we had to persuade him to leave!

After Julia's Grammi walked us back to the house to get ready for a day at the beach.

I am realizing looking back that I don't think I am supposed to be in the picture. Mimi and Papa were standing there when a neighbor said, "I'd like a picture of my two favorite people." When I heard her say that, I automatically jumped in the picture. Everyone had a good laugh after!

I got to see Charley swim!

Grammi took me swimming after Charley's big adventure.

Mommy and I ended the afternoon with a nice kayak ride together. I was about to fall asleep but I resisted. Too much excitement!

After a yummy dinner, I decided we should make a train. So, I went to put on an imaginary conductor's hat when mommy handed me a real one! I couldn't believe it. Now the train ride could really begin!

The last day we were there, Uncle Mike, Aunt Carolyn and Gabriella arrived. Uncle Mike showed me how to blow water through the noodle. It was hysterical!

Mommy wanted to try too so I showed her the ropes.

My visit to Maine ended with a nice ride with Dzia Dzia!
